The Aplington-Parkersburg volleyball program recently concluded its third consecutive state tournament appearance. With 10 all-time appearances, it was the second time in program history that the team qualified in three straight seasons. Head Coach Candace Kleespies shares the message that she gave the seniors after their final match.

“I told our seniors, ‘what a legacy that you’ve left at AP,'” Kleespies says. “They’ve gotten themselves down here for three straight years, and there’s no other program girl or boy right now that can say that they’ve done that, to get themselves in a final eight. I’m super proud of what they’ve done for our program. Just getting here is not our goal. It hasn’t been after that first year. We’ll go back in and start working now in the offseason so that we can make a push past the first round.”

Five seniors played their final matches for the program in a 3-0 loss to Dike-New Hartford in the quarterfinal. With several experienced playmakers from this year’s team expected to return for next season, they’ll look to make another run for Xtream Arena.
