Thick Morning Fog Slows Travel in Area Counties

dmx-1-3

A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect this (Mon) morning for a wide band of counties stretching from Estherville in northwest Iowa, through our entire listening area in north-central Iowa, and down toward Ottumwa in the southeast.

The National Weather Service says visibility may drop to a quarter mile or less, making travel difficult for anyone commuting from Hampton to Parkersburg, Allison to Iowa Falls, or Grundy Center to Clarion. Drivers are urged to use headlights, slow down, and leave extra space on the road.

The fog is expected to lift by late morning, but more active weather is on the way. Strong northwest winds are likely Tuesday night into Wednesday, and there’s a chance of weekend snowfall, though details are still uncertain.
