Governor Kim Reynolds on Tuesday announced $5.2 million in continuum of care grant awards to expand 19 child care and preschool partnerships across Iowa.

The grants worth up to $300,000 each over three years, will support partnerships between Statewide Voluntary Preschool Program sites and licensed child care centers to provide seamless, full-day care for four year old’s.

Funding will help organizations expand the number of children served through additional staffing, extended hours of operation and transportation options.

State officials say a second round of grants for child care and preschool expansion will be announced this fall for the 2026–2027 school year.
