AP-GC girls go 2-3 at Battle of Waterloo, boys 1-1 at home

The AP-GC girls wrestling team had a 2-3 day at Thursday’s Dan Gable Museum Battle of Waterloo inside Young Arena.

They opened the tournament in Bracket A, where they placed seventh. They fell to Vinton-Shellsburg 45-36 in the quarterfinal, then fell to West Des Moines Girls Wrestling 45-36 in the consolation semifinal. In the seventh place match, they earned a 54-18 win over Cedar Rapids Xavier.

In Pool 7, they fell to Lake Mills 47-36 and defeated Charles City 54-24.

They’ll return to action at Friday’s Iowa Falls-Alden Invitational at 5:00 p.m.

The AP-GC boys split a home triangular in Grundy Center. They defeated #22 (1A) Hudson 56-24 and fell to #3 (1A) Jesup 56-23.

Against the Pirates, AP-GC got pins by Zion Uhlenhopp at 120, Emerick Nolte at 150, Parker Mulder at 165 and Mason Pruisner at 190. Aiden Merrill won a 10-7 decision at 138 and Gage Miller won a technical fall at 157.

Against the J-Hawks, they got pins by Miller at 157 and Mulder at 165. Johnny Moen won a technical fall at 113.

In their next action, AP-GC will compete at Saturday’s Jones Brothers Tournament at Iowa Falls-Alden.
