The Aplington-Parkersburg basketball teams will play their final games of December Monday at Waverly-Shell Rock. The games will air on 99 The Wave and RadioOnTheGo’s YouTube channel.

The Falcon girls (4-3) will look to snap a three-game losing streak, having been defeated by Dike-New Hartford 50-48 in a mild upset Friday. The #6 (4A) Go-Hawks will likely offer one of the biggest tests of the season so far, entering 8-0.

“They’ve got one of the best players probably in the area in Frazell, back from last year, and she was solid for them,” Head Coach Brady Driscol says. “She’s the one of the best players we’ll see probably all year, we know they’ll be aggressive, they’re fast, they probably have some size. Obviously they’re ranked in 4A for a reason. We’ll see what they look like on film, but last year I thought we played them pretty competitive here and hopefully we can give them that again, but come away with one of these close wins.”

Lizzy Frazell leads WSR with 16.7 points per game.

The Falcon boys (5-1) will look to enter the break on a high note, gaining momentum through a fourth quarter surge in Friday’s 68-46 win over Dike-New Hartford. The Go-Hawks (2-3) fell to Caledonia (MN) in their most recent game Saturday at the Border Battle at Luther College. Henry Ruzicka leads with 12.8 points per game.

Pregame coverage will start at 5:45 p.m., followed by the tipoff at 6:00.
