
Two Iowa National Guard soldiers wounded in an ambush in Syria are in the United States receiving medical treatment.
The Iowa National Guard announced over the weekend that the soldiers’ families are with them as they begin the next phase of their recovery. The Guard is not releasing the soldiers’ names but confirmed both are in stable condition.
Another Iowa National Guardsman injured in the attack by an ISIS gunman was treated for a superficial wound and has returned to his unit.
The remains of two Iowa soldiers killed in the attack, one from Marshalltown and one from Des Moines, were returned to the United States last Thursday.
