Iowa gas prices rise again, up 34 cents this week

The average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Iowa rose 34 cents from last week and now stands at $2.93 per gallon, according to AAA.

The statewide average is up 2 cents from a year ago. Nationally, the average price Wednesday was $3.20 per gallon, up 22 cents from last week.

According to GasBuddy, as of Wednesday afternoon, a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was selling for $3.09 in Iowa Falls, Aplington and in Clarion.

Retail diesel prices in Iowa rose 37 cents this week to an average of $3.90 per gallon. That is 51 cents higher than a year ago but 14 cents lower than the national average of $4.04.

In crude oil trading, West Texas Intermediate rose $9.46 per barrel this week to $74.92. Brent crude rose by $10.86 to $81.64 per barrel. One year ago, WTI sold for $68.47 and Brent crude was $72.31.
