Democrat Clint Twedt-Ball has filed the paperwork and signatures required to appear on the ballot for Iowa’s 2nd Congressional District race.

Today, Twedt-Ball announced he submitted his affidavit of candidacy along with about 2,600 petition signatures from supporters across the district’s 22 counties.

The 2nd District covers much of northeast Iowa and includes cities such as Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, Waterloo, Waverly and Grinnell. The district also includes Hardin, Butler and Grundy counties.

The seat is open this election cycle after Republican Congresswoman Ashley Hinson announced she is running for the U.S. Senate.
