Democratic candidate for governor Rob Sand says his campaign has submitted a record number of petition signatures to qualify for the 2026 ballot.

This week, Sand announced that his campaign submitted 24,756 signatures to the state, the most ever submitted in Iowa election history. Campaign officials say that total is more than seven times the number required to qualify for the ballot.

According to the campaign, the signatures came from all 99 Iowa counties and surpassed the previous gubernatorial campaign record by nearly 9,000 signatures.

Sand, the current Iowa state auditor, is seeking the Democratic nomination for governor in the 2026 election.
