Teen injured in Grundy County crash after stolen vehicle pursuit

According to an Iowa State Patrol crash report, a Webster County teenager was injured Friday during a pursuit.

Authorities say the incident began after a report of a stolen vehicle traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 20. The vehicle was located near Exit 187, about 15 miles west of Dike. Troopers attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle, identified as a Dodge pickup, reportedly did not stop.

During the pursuit, the driver reportedly took Exit 215 near Dike at a high rate of speed and crashed.

The driver, identified as 18-year-old Landon Shivers of Moorland, Iowa, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by Dike Fire and EMS and the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office. No further details have been released.
