Keep your umbrellas and winter coats handy as Mother Nature is bringing a wide range of weather this week to north-central Iowa according to the National Weather Service.

After a quiet start today, conditions will shift quickly from snow to thunderstorms.

Clouds will increase tonight with a low around 23 degrees. Northeast winds will set the stage for a messy Tuesday. Forecasters say snow showers could develop early Tuesday afternoon before transitioning to a rain-snow mix by late afternoon. The high will be near 41, with wind gusts up to 20 mph.

A significant warmup arrives midweek. Wednesday’s high will reach near 65 degrees, but it will be windy, with gusts up to 40 mph. Showers and thunderstorms are possible, especially later in the day.

The unsettled pattern continues through the weekend. Temperatures will remain mild, ranging from the upper 50s to the low 70s, with scattered rain and breezy conditions expected.
