The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys track and field team will host 10 teams today at the Cowboys Relays. In addition to CGD, several other RadioOnTheGo Sports area teams will compete, including Belmond-Klemme, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Iowa Falls-Alden and West Fork.

As early-season preparations have included some indoor meets, for the Cowboys and Bulldogs this will be their first outdoor test of the season. For the Broncos, Cadets and Warhawks, it will be their second opportunity to compete outdoors.

Iowa Falls-Alden Head Coach David Harms says he believes the team has the ability to build on last year’s results.

“I’m very optimistic that this is going to be a very good season. We’d like to increase our meet percentage wins this year,” says Harms. “I think we only took home one championship last year. Our meet win percentage was high, but we’d like to get it up higher and get a lot of events qualified for state. And I think that’s a real possibility. We’ve got some — a lot of events I could talk about over and over again, but we’ll just have to see how it shakes out.”

The meet begins at 4:30 p.m. at the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Middle School.
