The Franklin County Board of Supervisors approved the fiscal year 2027 budget and awarded a construction contract during its regular meeting Tuesday at the courthouse.

Supervisors held a public hearing on the proposed budget, with no written or in-person comments received. During the hearing, officials noted reductions to previously published levy rates, lowering the rural levy by about 50 cents and the urban levy by about 20 cents. The board then unanimously adopted the budget.

The board also approved a resolution setting elected official salaries for FY2027, with increases ranging from 2.2% to 5.5%.

In other action, supervisors awarded a $35,250 contract to All Iowa Roofing of Des Moines for the GAR Memorial Hall roof replacement project.

Department updates were presented by IT Director Gabe Johanns and Dispatch Director Jody Hepler.

Supervisors also approved a utility permit for Dumont Telephone, payment applications and a change order for the courthouse electrical upgrade project, and a GIS support contract.

The board also discussed rent for office spaces at the Community Resource Center and directed the auditor to proceed with leases at a 25% rent increase.
