The Butler County Sheriff’s Department arrested two men in separate incidents Tuesday on unrelated charges.

Authorities arrested 35-year-old Sean Meester of Allison early Tuesday morning and charged him with second-degree theft involving property valued between $1,500 and $10,000, along with first-offense possession of marijuana. According to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, Meester was seen riding a bicycle that had been reported stolen. Deputies later executed a search warrant at his residence, where the stolen property and additional evidence were recovered.

In a separate incident, 38-year-old Nicholas Wygle of Aplington was arrested Tuesday evening and charged with assault while displaying a dangerous weapon. The Butler County Sheriff’s Office says Wygle made threats toward family members prior to leaving his residence. He was later located and taken into custody. The charge was filed by the Aplington Police Department.

At last report, both individuals remained in custody at the Butler County Jail.
