The Wright County Board of Supervisors reviewed a county audit, approved a new hire and held public hearings on livestock facility proposals during its regular meeting April 13.
The board received a presentation on the fiscal year 2024-25 audit from Elizabeth Thyer of Gardiner + Company, who outlined findings and compliance recommendations.
Supervisors also approved the hire of a telecommunications specialist at a starting wage of $23.50, pending pre-employment requirements.
In budget matters, the board accepted fiscal year 2026 amendment documents and set a public hearing for May 4 at 9:15 a.m.
Two public hearings were held on confinement site proposals. One proposal in Vernon Township for two new barns and pits drew concerns about proximity to drainage near the Iowa River, prompting further review and a future hearing.
A second proposal in Lake Township to increase animal capacity at an existing facility met requirements and involved no new construction.
