Spartans win AP Golf Invite by one stroke

Grundy Center took first place at Wednesday’s Falcon Boys Golf Invite, which was nine holes each at Legend Trail and ARC. They finished with 313 strokes, Aplington-Parkersburg was second with 314, AGWSR was fourth with 338, Iowa Falls-Alden was fifth with 340 and Dike-New Hartford was seventh with 354.

The Spartans were led by Judd Jirovsky, who placed second in a tiebreaker with 71 strikes. Jaxon Kiewiet was eighth, Eli Wegmann was 10th and Alex Kiewiet was 17th.
AP’s Brandon Hartbarger led the team with 76 strokes to place fourth. Benny Waller and Cormick Steege tied for sixth and Jaxson Kleespies tied for 12th.

AGWSR’s top performer was Lane Rose, placing ninth with 80 strokes. Karsen Kalous led Iowa Falls-Alden with 81 strokes to place 11th. Dike-New Hartford’s top finisher was Brayson Downs, placing 21st with 85 strokes.
