The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Board of Directors approved updated diploma requirements during its regular meeting Tuesday.

High School Principal Adam Vorrie presented the fiscal year 2026 DeCap report and highlighted changes for fiscal year 2027. The district will move to three diploma offerings beginning with the current freshman class, the Class of 2029. The options include a core diploma requiring 34 credits, a traditional diploma requiring 50 credits and an honors diploma requiring 56 credits. The board approved the diploma update recommendations 4-0.

Superintendent Joe Nelson told the board the district’s enrollment is down 10 students from the beginning of the year. He also recognized Taylor Katz and the e-sports team for reaching the state tournament for the second time this school year, along with the Wright County boys soccer team for winning the North Central Conference title.

Nelson also said the district will not renew its communications contract with the Donovan Group. Those duties will shift to Brad Kahler, saving the district $33,000.

In other business, the board voted to pursue a 28E sharing agreement with Eagle Grove and Manson Northwest Webster for a special education director. The next regular board meeting is scheduled for June 11.
