Gov. Kim Reynolds announced Wednesday that Vylor, Corteva’s future independent seed and genetics company, will locate its global headquarters in Johnston.
Vylor is expected to become independent following Corteva’s planned separation later this year. The company will be headquartered at Corteva’s existing Johnston campus and will focus on seed genetics and biotechnology.
State officials say the decision builds on Iowa’s agricultural and bioscience sectors and keeps the company connected to Pioneer’s century-long history in Johnston.
Future Vylor CEO Chuck Magro says the company’s roots go back 100 years to a farm in Johnston.
Iowa Economic Development Authority and Iowa Finance Authority Director Debi Durham says more than 700 people signed a petition encouraging Vylor leadership to choose Iowa, including nearly 300 who shared personal stories.
Officials in Johnston, Polk County and Greater Des Moines welcomed the announcement, citing the region’s workforce, quality of life and agricultural innovation history.
