Todd Dolan was introduced as the newest officer of the Hampton Police Department during the May 14 city council meeting.
Police Chief Mark Morrison made the introduction during the meeting, saying Officer Dolan understands the importance of public trust in law enforcement and that he is committed to serving the citizens of Hampton with professionalism, fairness and integrity.
“In working with him over the past couple of weeks, his positive attitude, calm demeanor and passion for becoming a law enforcement officer has been contagious,” said Morrison. “He has demonstrated his ability to jump right in and help wherever needed. All of his fellow officers look forward to working with him.”
After the meeting, Dolan told the Chronicle that he served in the Army from 2017 to 2022, after graduating from North Butler High School. After that, he worked in agriculture, before recently signing on with the Hampton Police Department. His first day on the job was May 4.
Dolan, who’s been training with fellow officers, plans on attending the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in September.
“Growing up, my parents were really big on serving others and your community, and they said ‘no matter what you do, you find a way to help others,'” he said. “My older sisters are in the medical field, so they did it that way, and I thought with everything I learned in the Army, I could put those skills to use by protecting and serving our community.”
Dolan was sworn in after the meeting.
