The Hampton-Dumont-CAL baseball team will begin the season Wednesday with a doubleheader at Clear Lake. It was originally scheduled for Monday in Hampton, but rescheduled due to weather conditions.
The Bulldogs will begin the season with hopes of bouncing back from last year’s 7-21 season with six field position starters returning. The top two batters graduated, but William Vosburg hits .264 and returns for his sophomore season.
Clear Lake will begin its season after going 16-9 last year, and only lost two starters to graduation.
“Clear Lake lost in the first round, but they finished the season pretty well,” Hampton-Dumont-CAL Coach Matt Lokenvitz says. “And they’re returning, I think, like eight starters or something. Plus their two best pitchers. So it’s always a tough baseball conference in the NCC. And so we’re going to have to show up ready to play every day if we want to be able to compete.”
Game 1 will start at 5:00 p.m.
