The Aplington-Parkersburg girls tennis team went 1-1 in postseason action Wednesday in Decorah, falling one dual short of a state tournament appearance. They beat Waverly-Shell Rock 5-2 in a regional semifinal and fell to the hosts 5-1 in the regional final. The duals were played at Luther College’s indoor tennis facility due to weather.
In the Waverly-Shell Rock dual, the Falcons won four singles matches and the first completed doubles match to clinch the win.
Against Decorah, Peyton Klooster at #2 singles got the only victory, a 6-2, 6-4 sweep.
AP has ended its team season at 14-7, but Adria Neymeyer/Peyton Klooster will represent the team as a doubles pair in the individual state tournament next week.
