Dike Watermelon Days are this weekend.

Friday’s activities include the Dike Fire/EMS water fight at the school at 6:00 p.m. with registration starting at 5:30. The Dike Public Library will show a moonlit movie at the racquetball court at 9:15.

Several events are planned Saturday along Main Street and at the Kruger-Hemmen Sports Complex. The Dike/D-NH all-school alumni reunion is Saturday at the high school starting with a breakfast at 7:00 a.m. and a program at 8:30. The Watermelon Days parade is at 10:00 and following the parade there will be kids’ activities at the library.

This year also marks Dike’s quasquicentennial and attendees can get a “slice of history” at the library Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

“We’ve been blessed with a lot of memorabilia shared by Norma Adams and Darlys Wiese and they are just so generous with their time and their items, they’re sharing all kinds of memorabilia that they’ve collected over the years and it’ll be really neat to see those things too.”

That’s library director Billie Dall. Some other activities Saturday include the Dike United Methodist Church luncheon at the community building at 11:00 a.m., a bags tournament at Lynch’s Pub at 2:00 p.m. and a fireworks show at 9:15 p.m.
