The Rockwell City Council discussed a potential vacancy tax and several infrastructure-related items during its regular meeting Wednesday evening.

During the meeting, council members discussed possible fines associated with a proposed vacancy tax. Following discussion, the council voted to table the issue and seek guidance from the city attorney regarding appropriate fine amounts.

Council members also addressed the potential purchase of speed and stop signs, with city staff awaiting cost information, and discussed vehicle maintenance needs for city equipment

Mayor Larry Wentz reported that coordination with County Conservation resulted in lights being turned on at the city sledding hill. He also reviewed the process for setting mayor and council compensation.

In other business, the council noted upcoming audit activity for the city’s fiscal year-end and recognized outgoing council member Randy Meyer for eight years of service, while welcoming Bradley Meyer to the council.
