A Waterloo man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for receiving child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa.
61-year-old Hazim Kapic pleaded guilty Sept. 17, 2025, to one count of receipt of child pornography.
Court documents state Kapic downloaded child pornography from February 2020 through August 2024. Authorities searched his Waterloo home in August 2024 and seized a hard drive containing thousands of images and videos, including depictions involving prepubescent minors and infants.
Chief U.S. District Court Judge C.J. Williams sentenced Kapic to 120 months in prison, ordered him to pay $18,000 in restitution to victims and imposed a five-year term of supervised release.
Kapic is being held in the U.S. Marshals custody pending transport to a federal prison.
