Iowa students are invited to showcase their artistic talents as part of the state’s America250 celebration.
Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig announced the 2026 Choose Iowa Calendar Contest, encouraging school-aged students to create artwork that combines Iowa agriculture with a patriotic theme. The contest is part of Iowa’s recognition of the 250th anniversary of the United States.
The Choose Iowa program, supported by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, highlights Iowa-grown, made and raised products.
Students up to 18 years old may submit original artwork featuring elements such as crops, livestock, food or horticulture alongside symbols of American pride. Entries will be judged on creativity and how well they connect agriculture to everyday life while incorporating patriotic themes.
Winning artists will be recognized Aug. 18 at the Iowa State Fair, where their work will also be featured in the 2026-27 Choose Iowa calendar.
Submissions must be received by noon on June 1. Entries can be submitted online, emailed to chooseiowa@iowaagriculture.gov or mailed to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, Attn: Choose Iowa Calendar, 1305 E.
