
Iowa drivers are paying less at the pump this week, with the average price of regular unleaded falling 14 cents to $3.51 per gallon, according to AAA.
AAA said the statewide average as of Wednesday was still 55 cents higher than a year ago. The national average for regular unleaded was $4.02 per gallon, down 9 cents from last week.
Local prices in the area remained above and below the state average. As of Thursday morning, GasBuddy reported regular unleaded at $3.69 per gallon in Hampton, $3.72 in Greene and $3.62 in Eldora.
Diesel prices also declined across Iowa. AAA said the statewide average for diesel fell 16 cents this week to $4.91 per gallon. That is 58 cents below the national diesel average of $5.49, but well above the $3.37 average recorded in Iowa one year ago.
In oil markets, West Texas Intermediate crude rose 27 cents this week to $92.56 per barrel. Brent crude increased $6.26 to $101.42 per barrel. One year ago, WTI was $64.60 and Brent was $68.93.
