Dumont City Council to consider the next fiscal year budget today

Today the Dumont City Council will hold a public hearing on the city’s proposed next fiscal year budget, and will then consider adoption of said budget.

In other business, the Dumont council will consider on the first reading an ordinance amendment pertaining to water rates and tower maintenance.

The city is proposing to change the water/sewer rates from $5 per 1-thousand gallons to $8 per 1-thousand gallons and adding an additional $1.50 to the tower maintenance fee.  Sewer charges are 100 percent of the water rates.

The council will hold the first reading of an ordinance amendment pertaining to the collection of solid waste by increasing each garbage container by $3.

And administrators from the Hampton-Dumont School District will also meet with the council.

The Dumont City Council meets today at 7pm at the EMS building.
