The Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake will celebrate the grand opening of its new Surf Music Experience Center September 5th through the 7th. The 10,000-square-foot center sits next door to the historic Surf and will feature never-before-seen artifacts, private music lesson rooms, an immersive theater, and new event spaces. Its highlight attraction is Not Fade Away, a multi-sensory journey through the birth of rock ’n’ roll and the lasting legacy of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and the Big Bopper.
The weekend celebration kicks off Friday, September 5th, with free admission to the public. Saturday features a concert from Richie Lee and the Fabulous 50s, and on Sunday, a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be followed by a celebration of what would have been Buddy Holly’s 88th birthday.
Admission to the Surf Music Experience Center will be free all weekend.
