The National Weather Service in Des Moines says scattered showers and thunderstorms will move across Iowa today as a cold front sweeps through the state. Some of the storms may bring downpours and lightning, but forecasters say the risk for severe weather remains low. Looking ahead, another round of showers is possible Thursday evening into Friday. A few thunderstorms could develop, though they are not expected to reach severe levels.
