The Belmond City Council met in regular session last week with updates highlighting upcoming system changes and ongoing city maintenance efforts.

City Manager Cody Nicholas informed council that the transition to Edmunds GovTech software is scheduled for July. Residents using automatic utility payments will need to re-enroll once the system goes live, with additional details expected soon.

Public Works Director Justin Fournier reported that spring work is underway, including preparing equipment, opening parks, repairing winter damage, sweeping downtown, and addressing potholes. Repairs at the water plant are continuing, though completion depends on parts availability. Recent issues with a highway stoplight also prompted discussion about potential replacement due to age.

The police department reported 192 calls for service in March, along with 100 traffic stops, 26 citations, and three arrests. All local businesses passed recent tobacco compliance checks.

The council also set upcoming public hearings for the city budget and an amendment to the current fiscal year budget.
