Grundy Center senior Emerson Vokes added another to a long list of athletic accomplishments last week, having competed at the Drake Relays for the first time. He placed 11th in the 3200 in 9:21.05, and eighth in the 1600 in 4:16.57, a PR.
Vokes is also a three-time state meet qualifier in the 1600 and 3200, and won the 2A 3200 championship last season. He’s a two-time cross country state champion and four-time qualifier.
He has five regular season meets remaining, including Tuesday’s meet at Vinton-Shellsburg.
