
Iowa gas prices fell slightly this week, even as crude oil prices continued to rise.
According to AAA, the average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Iowa was $4.19 per gallon as of Wednesday. That is down 4 cents from last week, but up $1.30 from the same time last year. The national average was $4.51, down 3 cents from last week.
Local prices remained above the statewide average in some communities. According to GasBuddy, as of Wednesday afternoon, regular unleaded was listed at $4.49 per gallon in Hampton, $4.25 in Eldora and $4.19 in Belmond.
Diesel prices in Iowa also fell 4 cents this week to a statewide average of $5.36 per gallon. That is up from $3.30 one year ago, but 30 cents below the current national diesel average of $5.66.
The price of West Texas Intermediate crude oil rose $7.35 this week to $102.37 per barrel, while Brent crude rose $4.86 to $106.80. One year ago, WTI crude sold for $65.04 and Brent crude was $66.93.
