
Several local boys golf teams and individuals advanced from Wednesday’s sectional rounds to the district tournaments.
In Class 2A, Aplington-Pakersburg placed first with 297 strokes at the sectional at Denver. Benny Waller and Cormick Steege tied for second place with 72 strokes, Brandon Hartbarger tied for sixth with 76 and Nate Peters placed eighth with 77. They’ll compete at the district meet at Columbus Catholic.
At the sectional at Grundy Center, the Spartans placed first with a score of 324. Judd Jirovsky placed second with 77, Jaxon Kiewiet and Eli Wegmann tied for third at 82, and Alex Kiewiet scored 83 to place fifth. Individually, South Hardin’s Aspen Briggs and Owen Larson advanced, tying for eighth with 88 strokes. They’ll compete at the district meet at Columbus Catholic.
In the 1A sectional at West Hancock, West Fork placed first with a score of 330 to advance. Aiden Rembe and Levi Staudt tied for first with 81 strokes. Owen Wedmore tied for second with 82 and Wyatt Bonnema tied for 16th with 86. They’ll compete at the district meet at Lake Mills.
In the 1A sectional at BCLUW, AGWSR placed third with 323 strokes to advance. Posted individual scores were incomplete, but Remington Kerns and Lane Olson each scored 80 to lead the team. Lane Rose scored 81 and Tyler Nederhoff had 82. They’ll compete at the district meet at St. Edmond.
