The Iowa Falls-Alden boys track and field team will compete in a 10-team meet today at Osage High School’s Sawyer Field.

Due to weather, the Cadets have had two of their first three outdoor meets canceled or postponed. With more favorable conditions expected, today’s meet provides an opportunity for Iowa Falls-Alden to build consistency as the outdoor season progresses.

Iowa Falls-Alden Head Coach David Harms says the team has the ability to build on last year’s results.

“I’m very optimistic that this is going to be a very good season. We’d like to increase our meet percentage wins this year,” says Harms. “I think we only took home one championship last year. Our meet win percentage was high, but we’d like to get it up higher and get a lot of events qualified for state. And I think that’s a real possibility. We’ve got some — a lot of events I could talk about over and over again, but we’ll just have to see how it shakes out.”

With the Drake Relays approaching in a couple of weeks, today’s meet at Osage will serve as one of the final opportunities for Cadet athletes to automatically qualify before the April 16 deadline.

The meet begins at 4:30 p.m.
