The #13 (1A) Iowa Falls-Alden girls soccer team beat Hampton-Dumont-CAL 5-2 Thursday at Cadet Field, as aired on 104.9 KLMJ and RadioOnTheGo’s YouTube channel.

The Cadets had a hot start offensively with three goals in the first 14 minutes. Five minutes in, Kyli Koenigsfeld hit a penalty kick to get the scoring started, then connected on a shot less than two minutes later. The Bulldogs responded 11 minutes in when Brissa Rojas connected on a penalty kick. Koenigsfeld added another, then Sofia Orozco hit a shot to make it 4-1 at halftime. The second half was quieter. IFA’s Kamryn Kolthoff scored midway through the period, and a late free kick goal by Rojas finished the night. IFA Coach Morgan Vierkandt.

Koenigsfeld says they could have played better, but the team will grow from it.

In the goal, IFA’s Abigail Janssen recorded one save, and Hampton-Dumont-CAL’s Madison Heilskov recorded 10.

Returning to action Monday, the Bulldogs will be at Humboldt and the Cadets will be at Clear Lake.
