The Rowan City Council approved the sale of two Main Street properties following a public hearing Monday night.

Council members accepted a $1,200 proposal from developers Joshua Coe and Megan Ring for properties at 135 and 138 Main Street. The agreement includes demolishing both structures by fall 2026 and constructing new homes over the next two years. Another proposal to restore the homes was discussed but not approved.

In other business, the council approved hiring Veenstra & Kimm to complete a preliminary engineering report for an ECWAG (Emergency Community Water Assistance) grant project.

Council members also approved a payment agreement extension for a property with past-due sewer fees and voted to prohibit propane trucks from using unpaved alleys due to damage concerns.

The Rowan Council also discussed a proposal to use robotic lawn mowers for city maintenance, but did not take action.
